The Cold-Hard Truth About the Toms "Outlet" Websites

Ok. Let's get real. Almost all of you pinterest'ers' (if you will) have seen the ad/pin for the TOMS OUTLET SALE!! Yeah. You are fed with your eyes people. As you all know, TOMS are the style. They're a laid back, comfy fitting shoe. I actually own a pair of BOBS by sketchers (you all know I'm a cheapo lol) I like my BOBS fairly well. TOMS, you're paying for the name. You can go to your local Walmart or Target store and buy a pair of Cherokee Brand of Canvas shoes for cheap. TOMS are expensive, bottom line. Anyway, these websites have made it SEEM like they have an "outlet" (if I may quote) for these outrageously expensive shoe brand. They say you "save" 66% ok this order than you would regularly if you went to www.toms.com and bought the same pair. At this point you're probably thinking "Why is she blogging about this when all you're doing it saving money?" Wrong. You're paying the EXACT price or possibly more (depending on the style you purchase) through these "outlet" websites. Let me explain: 

You go on the TOMS "outlet" website and say, "Oh this really IS saving me money!!" 

No. No no no no no!! 

You select the style that strikes you fancy and press the add to cart button. 

At this point, it's the same price as it was on the screen. You're blinded when you buy things. You are tricked into thinking your saving money when you're actually, in reality, paying more for the item you're "suppose to save money on" 

You are going through your cart and you press the "Proceed to checkout" button. 

This is where they catch you blindfolded. 

The shipping is $15.00 or HIGHER!! Let's calculate. I looked at these shoes: (screenshot of my actual experience) 

As you notice, I chose the glittery blue ones. The price before shipping and handling is $17.59 (a claimed total savings of 66%) wrong. 

So, I added it to my cart, and it loaded the total items in my cart (which consisted of this pair of shoes) 

This is the cart: 

 $17.59 is my subtotal... It hasn't changed...yet. 

I decided to estimate my shipping, considering it might be outrageous. It was:

If you can see that figure on the right hand side it says a whopping $15.00!!!! 

You might as well go to www.toms.com. Let's see....do the math with me here:

You are about $8.00 away from the original cost of toms. Wow. What "savings!!"
